Micah Richards names best pundit in England right now and it’s not Roy Keane, despite ‘bromance’ with Man Utd legend

Former Manchester City star Micah Richards snubbed Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane when naming the best pundit in England right now.

Gary Neville became a leading figure in punditry after his Manchester United playing career, with the former Red Devils defender mainly working for Sky Sports.

The 49-year-old United legend briefly left his role in punditry for his managerial spell at Valencia, which ended with his sacking and his return to Sky Sports in 2016.

Roy Keane, much like Neville, has become a key face for Sky Sports’ punditry team and the Irishman has excelled in his role thanks to his no-nonsense approach.

The 52-year-old Irish hardman entered coaching after his playing career ended, with Keane’s last managerial role ending in 2011 after his sacking from Ipswich Town.

Despite his assistant manager spells at the Republic of Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, Keane has seamlessly transitioned into his role in punditry.

Keane, who is regarded as one of the best captains of all time, has become a regular for Sky Sports and has also provided coverage for ITV as a pundit.

Richards snubs Keane and Neville

Micah Richards, much like Gary Neville and Roy Keane, has become a key figure in the world of punditry after his playing career.

The 35-year-old former Manchester City player has worked alongside the likes of Neville, Keane, Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher in the Sky Sports studio.

Richards has also provided coverage for BBC Sport alongside the likes of Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker, as well as hosting a podcast with the pair.

Alongside his duties for Sky Sports, Richards has done Champions League coverage on CBS Sports Golazo alongside Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry.

Speaking to The Athletic, Richards claimed that Carragher is the “No 1 pundit in England” ahead of former Manchester United stars Neville and Keane.

“We have got Carragher, the No 1 pundit in England,” he said.

“He has to sort of be a different Jamie on our [CBS] show to make the show work.”

Neville and Keane are ahead of Carragher

Richards can make a strong case for fellow Sky Sports and CBS pundit Carragher to be the best pundit in England, but Neville and Keane should be ahead of him.

Despite the criticism that Neville has received from United fans – claiming that he is far too impartial at times – the ex-Red Devils star’s punditry is exceptional.

Neville is held in high regard for his analysis and the former United captain has thrived in front of the camera since his playing career at Old Trafford ended.

Keane, on the other hand, is box office entertainment on punditry and the United legend has not changed his personality as part of his work for Sky Sports.

The former United skipper’s no-nonsense personality only adds to his analysis, but Keane has also shown another side to him when he is off camera as well.
