“Meeting in progress”: Napoli want Garnacho “to put pressure” on United, ready to offer big sweetener to get deal done – reports

Alejandro Garnacho is attracting plenty of interest from within the Premier League as well as abroad with Manchester United open to the wonderkid’s sale this January owing to their precarious PSR position.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with a move for the Argentine but Napoli seem to be in pole position with certain sections of the Italian media even going as far as to claim that a move has already been agreed.

However, reputed journalist Alfredo Pedulla has now suggested that a meeting is in progress between the Naples outfit and Red Devils over breaking the deadlock.

“Garnacho: meeting in progress Napoli – Manchester United to reach a solution that satisfies everyone,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

United-Napoli meeting happening

United had asked for £70 million to part ways with their academy graduate while the Serie A giants have so far refused to go over £50 million.

The player has agreed personal terms with his wages set to be doubled should he move to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this window.

Area Napoli have chimed in on this and have quoted Sky reporter Luca Marchetti as saying that Napoli will need Garnacho to push for the move to unblock the deal.

As far as the financials go, Antonio Conte’s side could include a hefty sell-on clause to satisfy the 20-time English league champions. Since INEOS have come in, almost all outgoing deals have seen United insert a sell-on clause.

“He has been identified as Kvara’s heir, but now there are intense negotiations to be had with Manchester, who have asked for 70 million pounds.

Sell-on clause could be included

“Napoli wants to complete the deal, because they believe he is ready immediately for the head-to-head in the championship with Inter and also has a future.

“Napoli is ready to make a major investment, but not under those conditions. The Azzurri are confident and are counting on the player’s support to unblock the situation: Alejandro must put pressure on Manchester. The deal could go through with the inclusion of percentages on the future resale.”

The 20-year-old was considered unsellable last summer but since Amorim’s arrival, he has found himself at the periphery due to the shift in tactics.

Garnacho does not seem to be a natural fit up front and while he has shown progress and the desire to work hard, clearly INEOS’ need to balance the books could see him caught in the crossfire just a season after he signed a long-term deal.
