Aaron Wan-Bissaka is all set to depart Man United, with his West Ham United medical set for today.

Manchester United Football Club are in a situation where they have to sell before they can buy. INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have made no secret of that fact. However, with less than a week before the opening game of the Premier League season, things are starting to ramp up.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has never really been Erik ten Hag’s cup of tea despite positive performances from the ex-Crystal Palace man. The stylistic fit between player and manager doesn’t sync up.

Over the last 24 hours, there has been a breakthrough in talks between Wan-Bissaka, West Ham United and Manchester United.

Florian Plettenberg has now confirmed that the right-back is set for his West Ham medical today, with the United player set for a transfer away from Old Trafford with ‘immediate effect’.

United and West Ham have agreed on a £15m fee for the right-back, with Wan-Bissaka set to sign a six-year contract at his new club.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Wan-Bissaka has never let United down and his defensive performances have been exceptional at times. I still firmly believe he’s the best 1v1 defender in the world and losing that has the potential to hurt.

However, this means a move to sign Noussair Mazraoui, a player Ten Hag knows well, to move forward.

This game is all about being able to slot players into your system, rather than changing your tactics to suit players. Mazraoui knows the way Ten Hag likes to play the game and the transition for the Bayern Munich man should be seamless.
