Marc Skinner drops devastating injury news involving new United signing

Manchester United boss Marc Skinner has given injury updates on a number of his players, including new signing Fridolina Rolfo.

United secure draw against Liverpool

Skinner spoke to the media after United’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool on Wednesday, in what was their final pre-season clash.

Midfielder Simi Awujo gave United the lead early on after some fantastic work to win the ball before finding the back of the net.

However, United were hit back through Ceri Holland, who restored parity. The visitors went on to take control of the game at Leigh Sports Village, with Cornela Kapocs grabbing their second goal.

It seemed like Liverpool were headed for a victory, but Ella Toone had other ideas. The United star produced an acrobatic volley to ensure the spoils were shared.

A number of key United players were absent including Grace Clinton, Leah Galton, Melvine Malard, Rachel Williams and Rolfo.

After the match, Skinner provided an update on his squad but confirmed a setback for Rolfo, revealing that United’s newest signing faces a number of weeks on the sidelines.

Skinner gives injury updates

Skinner said [as quoted by GOAL], “Mel was a little bit of a hip [issue]. Hopefully [she] will be back for the PSV game.”

“Leah, we’re just watching. [She] may be back for the PSV game, and I look at Fridolina, she’s just come in so we’re assessing her.”

“She’d had a knock when she was going into the Euros, so we’re just making sure she’s healthy and she’s probably a few weeks away yet – but we’d rather treat her carefully as she’s going to be an excellent signing.”

“Grace had a little niggle, so we’re just protecting her as well, and obviously Rach has been back on the field.”

By all accounts, it appears Rolfo will be unavailable for Wednesday’s Champions League qualifiers meeting with PSV – a big blow for United considering her experience in the competition.
