Manchester United will get their Champions League campaign underway with an away trip to BSC Young Boys.
The group stage draw was held in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday and United were handed a favourable draw with Young Boys, Villarreal and Atalanta joining them in Group F.
United managed to avoid some heavy hitters from Pot 1, such as Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, but will still have to be wary about their opposition, especially Villarreal who defeated them on penalties in last season’s Europa League final.
The Champions League will get underway once more following the upcoming international break and United’s first game will be against Swiss side Young Boys in the Wankdorf Stadium.

The match will be played on September 14 and will kick-off in the early time slot of 5:45pm. The match could also see Cristiano Ronaldo return to European action for United after he returned to the club on Friday.
Next up for United they will welcome Villarreal to Old Trafford on September 29, kick-off 8pm, in a rematch of the Europa League final. The game does not promise to be a classic as all four of their previous group stage meetings have finished goalless.
Serie A’s Atalanta will be in Manchester next on October 20 before United travel to Bergamo just under two weeks later for the return fixture on November 2.
A final away trip to the Yellow Submarine will follow on November 23, with United again playing in the early kick-off slot, before they bring their group stage to a close by facing Young Boys in Manchester on December 8.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping his side fair much better in the competition than they did last season in which they were eliminated before the knock-out rounds by Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
Although all coronavirus restrictions in England have been lifted, allowing capacity crowds and away fans to attend matches once again, it remains to be seen what will happen in regards to away matches for Champions League matches.
A statement released by Uefa read: “The current rule not to allow travelling fans at Uefa club competitions matches is currently being reviewed by Uefa and a subsequent decision will be communicated in the next days.
“We advise fans not to make any travel arrangements before a decision has been communicated.”
