Manchester United youngster lauded as ‘fantastic’ after winning Hull City award on loan – Manchester Evening News

Di’Shon Bernard has been voted Hull City’s player of the month for October on the back of a string of fine performances.

The Manchester United defender is spending the 2021-22 season on loan in the Championship.

And although Hull are enduring a tough season, with the team currently 22nd in the league, Bernard’s performances have impressed fans on social media, with a tweet asking for supporters to vote for their player of the month.

The 21-year-old beat goalkeeper Matt Ingram, defender Callum Elder and midfielder Richard Smallwood to the award.

Bernard played every minute of Hull’s six games in the month of October and was especially good in the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on October 2.

The man himself posted on social media, saying “Thank you to everyone who voted.”

Hull supporters also praised the 21-year-old for his performances so far this term.

“The sky is the limit for Bernard, a fantastic centre half and can do it all from defending to starting counter attacks with long balls, a fantastic football player who is a solid 8/10 at least every week,” said one.

Another said the Player of the Month gong was “fully deserved” for Bernard and he “has a real future, you can see the potential every time he touches the ball.”

Bernard move to the United academy in 2017 from Chelsea in 2017 and spent last season on loan at Salford City, where he made 30 League Two appearances.

The centre-back has made one senior appearance for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, in the November 2019 Europa League clash with Astana.
