Manchester United are still dreaming about a historic quadruple this season after eliminating Barcelona from the Europa League in memorable style on Thursday night.
Goals from Fred and Antony did the damage in that second leg showdown at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag and his players clinched a 4-3 aggregate victory over the Catalan giants. Next up for United in that competition is a meeting with Spanish opponents Real Betis over two legs next month.
Before then – and coming up this Sunday afternoon – United can win their first trophy since 2017 when taking on Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. However, in-form Marcus Rashford is an injury concern for that one after pulling up with an ankle problem against Barcelona.
Off the field, United have one eye on the transfer window in their search for a new striker.

Ten Hag makes ‘proud’ claim ahead of cup final
United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that he will only be proud of a trophy win if the Reds play the game in the right way in front of their fans.
When asked if he is proud of the way the players and fans have ’embraced’ his ideas at United, Ten Hag told Sky Sports:
“Proud I don’t think is the right word, no. How proud I would be, of course when we are acting as a team because you don’t think it’s so normal, you have to work really hard for it. But then you are really proud when you’re winning trophies with the team and you do it in a way that people like. The people see there’s a good spirit, there’s a good fight in the team, they want to play in a proactive way, in a dynamic way. If the fans embrace it, they will make me proud.”

United fans poked fun at Frenkie de Jong during Thursday’s Europa League play-off win over Barcelona.

Reds supporters sent him a cheeky message from the terraces during his visit to Manchester. Chants of ‘Frenkie, what’s the score? Frenkie, Frenkie what’s the score?’ rang around Old Trafford when United went 2-1 up.

United manager Erik ten Hag is yet to discover whether Marcus Rashford will be available for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.
The England star went down during the second half of last night’s clash with Barcelona and required treatment, but did manage to play on until being taken off in the 88th minute.

Scholes claims Fernandes is ‘sacrificing’ himself for United
Speaking after the victory over Barcelona, Scholes told BT Sport that Fernandes is sacrificing himself on the wing to help United.
He explained:
Bruno will sacrifice himself to play out there. Sancho played a little different position but he wants to play in the wide spaces. Sacrifice is what it’s all about. He’s like Wayne Rooney, he did it so many times to accommodate Cristiano Ronaldo. Just bringing that anticipation and quality to the team that Bruno has – wherever he plays on the team, he is capable of creating a goal.
