Manchester United star says he enjoys scoring against Leeds and wants to keep doing it

Manchester United midfielder Fred is looking forward to facing Leeds United, a team he has a good record against.

Leeds are one of two teams, along with Tottenham, who Fred has scored against in more than one match.

Last season Fred netted in Manchester United’s 5-1 win over Leeds at Old Trafford, and then in the 4-2 victory at Elland Road.

Now heading into a double-header against the Whites, Fred says he is hungry for more.

Fred on facing Leeds

Fred told Manchester United’s club website he is determined to add to his tally against Leeds.

He said: “Games against Leeds are another ‘clasico’ of English football, a really important derby.

“Whenever we come up against them, everyone’s talking about it in the week leading up to the game.

“Scoring in this fixture is great, a wonderful feeling seeing the fans jumping, you can feel their excitement.

“It’s really satisfying scoring in these games, as I’ve said before, I hope to score more of these goals.”

Fred has been in good form in recent weeks and has scored four goals this season, also with two assists.

His comments are particularly welcome, because Manchester United need leaders to step up in midfield right now.

Casemiro is suspended, while Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen are out injured, along with Donny van de Beek.

The Brazilian is expected to line up alongside new signing Marcel Sabitzer, who would be making his first start for Manchester United.

Opponents Leeds have just sacked manager Jesse Marsch, with former United assistant Chris Armas returning to Old Trafford as part of a three-man caretaker management team.
