England need four points from six Gareth Southgate and England go into this international break knowing that they need four points from six in order to guarantee their qualification for the World Cup in Qatar next year.
The Three Lions are due to host Albania at Wembley, before travelling to San Marino to round off their campaign.

As such, despite strong performances from the likes of Conor Gallagher and Emile Smith Rowe for their clubs, it was a strong and largely expected squad that Southgate selected. While the Manchester United duo of Jadon Sancho and Jesse Lingard missed out, the out-of-form trio of Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling all made the cut.
Additionally, Jude Bellingham returned to the squad, while Connor Coady and Tyrone Mings held onto their spots from Euro 2020, despite the latter having been dropped by Aston Villa for poor performances.
If it gets the job done, and England on the plane to Qatar in 12 months, however, there can be no complaints.
Rashford pulls out of the squad Now, one of the more experienced players has pulled out of the squad. Marcus Rashford was initially named in the 26, but has since decided that he would be better served building up his fitness in Manchester, as per The Telegraph.
Marcus Rashford has pulled out of the England squad to focus on recovering full fitness following illness and recent return from shoulder surgery (yet to complete 90 mins following 3 month lay off) #mufc #eng https://t.co/kqIRv80ssy

The forward underwent shoulder surgery after the Euro 2020 final, and has not yet played a full match in recovery. Additionally, he came down with illness last week which further limited his training and match time. As a result:
“United and England are thought to agree Rashford’s time would be better spent working on his fitness at the club’s Carrington training base this week and next rather than competing in the forthcoming internationals”.
It remains to be seen whether a replacement will be called up to the squad, and just who that will be.
