Manchester United star has succeeded Cristiano Ronaldo and could overtake him

Cristiano Ronaldo departed Manchester United at the end of 2022, before clinching a move as a free agent to Al Nassr.

Ronaldo was Manchester United’s highest active goalscorer at the club, amassing a total of 145 goals across his two spells at the club.

The Portuguese goalscorer was United’s joint-13th highest ever scorer, alongside David Herd, and five short of former teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Now with Ronaldo gone, Manchester United have a new highest active goalscorer, and he could end up overtaking the former number seven.

Manchester United’s highest active scorer

Manchester United’s highest active scorer is now Marcus Rashford, the player who can’t currently stop scoring.

Rashford’s 11 goals this season have propelled his total tally for Manchester United to 104 goals – and counting.

He is already United’s 19th highest goalscorer of all time, with more strikes than Eric Cantona and David Beckham.

Ronaldo’s tally of 145 goals is a realistic one for Rashford to eventually overtake, providing he signs a new long-term contract.

Wayne Rooney is United’s all-time leading goalscorer with a total of 253 first team goals for the club.

Who follows Rashford

Anthony Martial is Manchester United’s second highest active goalscorer. He is up to 84 goals, 20 behind Rashford.

Bruno Fernandes follows next, with 53 goals for the club, a solid tally considering he only signed in 2020.

The next name, technically, is Mason Greenwood with 35. But it’s unlikely he ever plays for the club again.

Scott McTominay follows with 18 while Fred is on 10. Hopefully more of Manchester United’s stars will start adding goals – there just aren’t enough scorers in the side right now, with a real reliance on Marcus Rashford.
