Manchester United ‘planning Serie A raid’ including Federico Chiesa and other transfer rumours – Manchester Evening News

Despite the dark clouds surrounding Manchester United’s managerial situation the transfer merry-go-round continues to spin with the Reds reportedly eyeing moves for Federico Chiesa, Franck Kessie and Nicolo Barella.

Federico Chiesa burst into the mainstream spotlight after helping Roberto Mancini’s Italy side to Euro 2020 glory, beating England on penalties thanks to Gianluigi Donnarumma’s heroics.

Liverpool were among the Premier League clubs linked with the winger during the summer but after United’s torrid run of form, he has been mooted with a move to Old Trafford according to Fichajes.

Although the links haven’t specified when or whether the interest will materialise. Chiesa has continued to establish himself in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo as Juventus have found themselves slowly creeping up the Serie A table.

The 24-year-old found himself on the bench during the weekend as Massimiliano Allegri’s side but came on with 25 minutes to play as they held the current Italian champions, Inter Milan, to a 1-1 draw.

Further to the report, it suggests that with their recent disappointing run in the Premier League, they have already cast their eye to the transfer market just a matter of weeks since the conclusion of the summer window to bolster their squad.

Chiesa is currently valued at £63m but his price tag is reportedly close to three figures.

Also in the report, the Reds have been linked with another Italian in the form of Nicolo Barella.

United’s midfield has come into question during the early stages of this season as they have struggled to find balance with the heavy attacking presence in the squad.

The Manchester Evening News has previously reported that Solskajer was unhappy with their failure to make an addition to the middle of the park.

Similarly with Chiesa, Barella has enjoyed a steady rise to one of the hottest European products and has also been touted with United’s East Lancs Road rivals.

The nimble playmaker enjoyed success with Antonio Conte’s side last season before helping Mancini’s side to European glory with the Azzurri.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport via Tuttomercato Web have suggested that AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie could be available as early as January with the Ivorian’s contract set to expire next summer.

He has reportedly reached loggerheads with Milan in their negotiations over an extension with the club as they struggle to reach a compromise over wage demands.

Manchester United are said to be interested alongside PSG and Milan’s fierce rivals Inter, with his deal expiring in the summer, Stefano Pioli’s side could look to cash in before having to release him.
