According to French outlet Jeunes Footuex, Manchester United have joined Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool in the race to sign Stade Brestois left-back Bradley Locko this summer.

The Red Devils have struggled with defensive crisis due to several players being sidelined with their respective injuries. Erik ten Hag had limited options in the left-back spot as well.

Luke Shaw has missed 38 games and Tyrell Malacia continues to be sidelined. The former can’t be relied upon, and the latter is yet to prove his consistency in the Premier League.

The Dutch manager was forced to play Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat in that position. He also tried to play Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a left-back in latter stages of the competition.

Hence, the club’s management are pondering a move for a young full-back and Locko is being monitored by the English elites. However, they would need to compete with Fulham and Forest, with Liverpool being behind in this race.

The 22-year-old has been a standout player for the Ligue 1 side this campaign. Brest have achieved qualification to the Champions League for the first time in their history as they finished third in the French league.

Locko won 6.9 duels and made 2.9 tackles per game and is in the top six percent for passes and crosses completed in the French league. Brest are aware of the interest in their prized asset and will be ready to sell the player for a fee of around £16 million this summer.

Man United can secure this deal by selling some of their current crop of players. It is also said that the Red Devils are eyeing Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri as their number one target for the left-back spot.

The Algerian star’s experience in the Premier League will be vital and he has proved himself with his recent performances for his current club. However, he will be available for £43m, which is still higher when compared to Locko’s asking price.

It remains to be seen which defender the club prefers to sign ahead of an important transfer window.
