Hello and welcome to The Athletic’s coverage of today’s football news.

Manchester United have announced Ralf Rangnick as their new interim manager, as first reported by The Athletic last week. The German has signed a contract until the end of the season, with an additional two years in a consultancy role.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are six points from safety after a 1-1 draw against Norwich extended their winless run to 14 games. A late goal from the penalty spot for Raphinha meanwhile helped Leeds beat Crystal Palace 1-0.

On the international stage, England Women tallied 10 different goalscorers in their 20-0 win over Latvia. Ellen White scored a hat-trick to become England’s all-time top scorer.

We’ll bring you all the latest news from across the world of football as well as updates from this evening’s Premier League fixtures.
