Manchester United interested in Arsenal target as release clause revealed

Manchester United are considering a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai after Arsenal missed out on his signature last year.

The 21-year-old was a target for the Gunners heading into the January 2021 transfer window, but opted to swap RB Salzburg for RB Leipzig, with the deal announced in December.

The Hungarian missed the rest of the 2020-21 season through injury but has started this campaign impressively, scoring six goals from midfield in 15 games across all competitions.

Three goals and three assists in 10 Bundesliga games, only seven of which were starts, has started to alert more clubs to his qualities.

German publication Sport Bild report that his release clause at RB Leipzig stands at £51m and Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in meeting that demand.

Atletico Madrid have also shown an interest in the Hungary international and will provide competition to the Red Devils, but Arsenal may no longer be involved in the race for his signature after missing out previously.

The Gunners were keen on snapping up the youngster when Leipzig signed him for just under £20m in January, but their interest has waned with the price tag increasing significantly.

– “Are you going to score?”

– “Yes.”

– “Are you sure?”

– “I never miss!”

— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) November 4, 2021 Szoboszlai made headlines in the Champions League earlier this month when he came off the bench with RB Leipzig trailing 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite his tender age, he was given the responsibility of taking a 92nd minute penalty with the game on the line. PSG superstar came up to him before the spot-kick and asked if he was going to score.

The youngster assured the Brazilian that he would, adding, ‘I never miss,’ before slotting home the equaliser.

Confidence and quality from the Hungarian, who also speaks excellent English.
