Manchester United fans are wondering why the club didn’t make a move for Ajax play-maker Hakim Ziyech following the news that he will join Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer.

Ziyech has dazzled since he moved to Amsterdam in 2016 and particularly impressed in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-final last season, in which he played a massive part in eliminating Real Madrid and Juventus.

It was of little surprise that many of Europe’s top sides were said to be eyeing a move for Ziyech but it’s Chelsea who have signed the Moroccan for just £33.36million.

Following the signing of Bruno Fernandes in January, MEN Sport understands United are expected to continue to improve their attack in the summer with a creative midfielder and winger at the top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wish-list.

With high prices expected for targets such as James Maddison, Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish, some United fans are wondering why the club didn’t make a move for Ziyech when he was available at such a low price.

You can see a selection of their reactions below:

The versatile Ziyech is more than capable of playing on either flank or behind the striker, which could have proved useful for United.

Instead he will arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer, though the move is subject to the forward agreeing personal terms with Chelsea.

It might not all be bad news, however, as some United fans believe that Ziyech’s move to London could give them a clear shot at signing Sancho.
