According to the Sun, Manchester United have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Crystal Palace sensation Eberechi Eze.

Eberechi Eze

The English star was a key player for the Eagles in the 2023/24 campaign having scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 27 appearances for his club.

Clubs like Tottenham, Manchester City and Man United have already started enquiring about the player, who has a £60 million release clause.

He has attracted more attention due to his inclusion in the Three Lions’ 26-man squad for the Euro 2024 in Germany. As per the Sun, Man United wants to make Eze their ‘marquee signing’.

However, they might face a stumbling block due to his price tag. Spurs are said to be in the driver’s seat in this race.

The attacker and his family were seen in Tottenham’s agency’ suite this summer which further puts focus on his desire to move to the North London club.

Spurs are keen on signing fresh players to compete in the Europa League and they need not worry about the Profit and Sustanilbity rules. The management will be keen to improve Ange Postecoglou’s side after their fifth-place finish last season.

They have the financial stability to win this race plus signing unwanted players like Emerson Royal, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Joe Rodon can make them collect more cash.

Meanwhile, this doesn’t sound like good news for United since they have to sell some of their players to collect funds for this transfer.

Eze’s preference might be to move to Spurs due to their stability in attack and a much better project under the new coach.

Man Utd ended the 2023/24 PL season on a negative goal difference and netted just 57 times (The joint lowest alongside Palace).

Erik ten Hag’s uncertain future further complicates this deal and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils still wants to face Tottenham in this fierce battle.

All eyes will be on the winger as he is set to play for the Three Lions in the Euros this week.
