According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United have joined the race to sign Nottingham Forest defender Murillo this summer.

Murillo

The 21-year-old has made 27 appearances for the Tricky Trees this season. He has performed well since moving from Corinthians last August.

However, there are chances that he might be forced to leave the club due to financial constraints placed upon them. Forest needs to avoid financial sanctions by the Premier League and for that, they need to sell off their key players.

The Red Devils could use this opening for their benefit and convince Murillo to move to Old Trafford. However, United are not alone in this race.

As per Deportivo, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all competing for the Brazilian centre-back’s signature.

Murillo needs to find an elite club to make progress if Forest gets relegated from the PL this season. With such strong interest, it will be wise for the player to move to the bigger fish in the upcoming months.

The Red Devils need to find a replacement for Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans. Both players are expected to leave the club.

While the latter’s contract will end in the next few months, the former has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. Harry Maguire is also past his prime and Victor Lindelof has been inconsistent with his performances.

Hence, Murrilo can be an excellent addition at his age. He can develop himself at Old Trafford and can be a direct starting XI player.

However, it remains to be seen how much would Forest demand for their star player. They can try to gain maximum profit since the defender is still tied to a long-term contract.

Man United need to be careful while negotiating a move for the South American star.
