Manchester United could welcome three players against Bournemouth

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez might make a comeback for Manchester United’s opening Premier League match of the season against Bournemouth.

Dalot has been sidelined for the past three games with a hamstring injury he picked up during Portugal’s World Cup quarterfinal loss to Morocco, but he just recently began training.

Martinez missed the victories over Burnley, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves due to his participation in Argentina’s victory in Qatar. He has nevertheless participated in numerous training sessions.

Prior to the Wolves’ game on New Year’s Eve, Scott McTominay trained after getting over his illness, and he might be available to join the matchday squad on Tuesday. Erik ten Hag was asked about the returning players and their probability of playing against Bournemouth. He said:

“We have to see. Both (Martinez and McTominay) were training yesterday and today. I’m quite optimistic that they can both return to the squad.”

“Diogo Dalot also made good progress. We don’t want to take risks with anyone because we know there are many games to come and we need a full squad to cover all the games.”

Since Jadon Sancho continues to work independently from the Manchester United team at their Carrington training facility, he is unlikely to be available. United has won their last five games and are looking in good shape. Everton and Charlton are scheduled to play at Old Trafford in the FA Cup and League Cup over the coming week.

The Red Devils next face Bournemouth, which will be the first of their eight games that they are scheduled to play this month.
