According to talkSport (as quoted by the Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are keeping an eye on Bournemouth eft-back Milos Kerkez this summer.

Milos Kerkez

Kerkez joined the Cherries from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar last summer and has made 33 appearances for the Premier League side this season.

His impressive displays have helped Bournemouth end the season in an amazing 12th spot. The Hungarian national team also calls him up and the 20-year-old has a chance to show his talents on the biggest stage in the upcoming months.

Kerkez is deemed as a next-generation talent and English elites like Man United and Chelsea are monitoring the situation of the youngster. It is said that their scouts have been impressed by the Hungarian’s performances in defence.

Unsurprisingly, the Red Devils are hunting a new defender in the recent transfer window. The left-back spot has made them quite vulnerable due to several injuries and using players out of their position.

Tyrell Malacia remained on the treatment table for the entire season and Luke Shaw made only 12 appearances last season (none coming after February).

Erik ten Hag was forced to use Sofyan Amrabat, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof in that position. This season’s player of the year Diogo Dalot impressed as a left-back but the club still needs a proper LB to fill the slot and reduce the burden on other players.

Hence, United are looking at Bournemouth star Kerkez and other options in the market. But, Ten Hag’s side won’t have it easy as the Cherries are expected to demand a higher fee for the defender.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team aim to rebuild the squad by signing young players and selling unwanted players to raise cash.

With Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans leaving, the club needs urgent defensive reinforcements and they should make a move as early as possible.

Players like Kerkez fit the owner’s vision and will also help United build for the future. The club have worked on their attacking unit but they can’t afford to ignore their defensive line this summer.

It remains to be seen whether they make a move for Bournemouth’s Kerkez in the upcoming months.
