Paul Pogba limps away from France training with injury

The saga between Paul Pogba and his Manchester United future continues to drag on, with the Frenchman free to leave the club next summer should the pair fail to reach an agreement.

Pogba remains the club’s most expensive ever signing, but a heavy frustration lingers around Old Trafford as the midfielder fails to reach the potential that he shows glimpses of regularly.

United have finally reached a breakthrough with Pogba though, as it has been revealed that the French star is reportedly keen on renewing his deal after months of speculation that he could walk away from the club for nothing.

However, should United want to re-sign him it’ll come at a price, and it may not be worth it.

Should Manchester United pay over the odds to keep Paul Pogba? Let us know in the comments section.

Paul Pogba wants a huge pay rise to stay at Manchester United French publication L’Equipe have reportedly claimed that the 28-year-old does want to renew his contract with Manchester United after all, but is demanding that he overtakes teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to become the Premier League’s highest-paid player.

The contractual demand comes after a report earlier this week that claimed United bosses were open to selling Pogba should they receive a substantial offer for the midfielder in the January transfer window to avoid letting the star walk away for nothing for the second time.

Ronaldo is reportedly earning £385,000-a-week at United and is their highest paid player, but the Portuguese star has been in prolific goal scoring form since returning to Old Trafford, and Pogba doesn’t have five Ballon d’Or’s to his name.

Pogba can be world-class on his day, but as the saying goes, ‘If you can only be world-class on you’re day, you are not world-class’.

The Frenchman is now 28, and is still demonstrating the same negative traits that his has throughout his career, and continues to lack consistency as proven this season after a fantastic start.

The fact that Pogba was left out of United’s game against Liverpool says it all, and his petulant cameo when coming off the bench before being sent off has almost been glazed over by club, despite the repercussions of his suspension during crucial games.

Give us your thoughts on Manchester United’s current squad performances…

It’s time for United to take a stand, and deny Pogba’s ridiculous requirements and counter with a more reasonable offer.

For United to allow Pogba to be the club’s most paid player, would be a mockery to themselves, and to one of their most successful ever players, Ronaldo.

Pogba may leave, but it would be a sense of relief for United, as although he is capable of performing brilliance, the amount of negative energy and attention he attracts could leave the club better off without him in the long run.
