Manchester United have been trying Jadon Sancho as a right wing-back as they look to solve their problems under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports. The England international joined from Borussia Dortmund back in the summer transfer window. But he’s yet to score or register an appearance in the time since.
Manchester United finally secured the signing of Sancho back in the summer after four years of intense speculation.
However, the England international has toiled so far – failing to score or assist for his new side.
In recent weeks, with United falling down the Premier League table, Solskjaer has switched to a 3-4-1-2 formation to stop the rut.
It’s had mixed results so far, with the club beating Tottenham, drawing with Atalanta and losing to Manchester City with the system in place.
And Sancho had found himself stuck on the bench during those fixtures.
Now, The Athletic have opened up on the 21-year-old’s situation at the club.

And it’s claimed that United have been teaching Sancho the ways of a wing-back in training as they look to get him fully firing.
It’s stated there are concerns over Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s attacking ability, which is why United are trying to give Sancho a new role.
It’s claimed coaches have been happy with his efforts and were enthused by his cameo off the bench against Manchester City.
Illness, too, has prevented Sancho from taking the Premier League by storm.
The publication states that the England international had an ear infection that was worse than it seemed at the time.

Sancho had to do training with cotton wool in his ears and that, too, has contributed to his slow start.
However, United are still confident they’ve got a real gem on their hands.
And whether Sancho can adjust to life at Old Trafford, after struggling so far, remains to be seen.
Paul Parker feels United have to play Sancho more often, insisting there’s no excuse behind him being on the bench.
“If Manchester United publicly chased Sancho for months and then buy him for £72.9million, they simply have to get him playing,” he said.

“He’s an Englishman, he knows football in England and there’s no excuse for him.
“For anyone to come out and say that he needs time to adjust to the Premier League is rubbish – he went from an English side to go to Germany.
“His game and everything about him would have improved by going out there.
“Unless Jadon Sancho is doing something in training that the manager doesn’t like, or he’s got to play others ahead of him.
“If you’re a person that’s paid the £72.9million, you’d be asking why they’ve paid that money for him, alongside his wages which will be over £100,000 per week.

“Are they going to give him the opportunity to earn some money? He has to play more than one game so he can get a run in the team and feel a part of it.
“All it’s doing is causing massive unrest within the club, and definitely with him [Sancho].”
Sancho could feature in United’s next match against Watford.
Solskjaer is expected to still be in charge for that match, with Joel Glazer wary of sacking him due to a lack of alternatives out there.
