Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from the latest England squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has once again been able to call upon Marcus Rashford recently, following the Englishman being out for three months.

Rashford’s time on the treatment table had been well documented. The young forward was dealing with an issue for what felt like all of last season, before going under the knife in July.

The United #10 has returned in blistering fashion, scoring his fair share of goals in his short stint back on the field. However, at the weekend, he was only fit enough for the bench due to illness.

Now, according to The Telegraph, the United star has pulled out of international duty. He’ll now no longer be available for Gareth Southgate’s England over the next fortnight.

Rashford, has smartly decided to withdraw in order to focus on regaining full fitness and health following that lengthy lay-off.

I’m always a fan of United players prioritising club over country, because at the end of the day, it’s the domestic club that pays the wages of the player.

Rashford has always loved representing England, hence why he forced himself through the pain barrier over the summer. However, he knows United need him more right now. The fact that he’s putting that first is massively encouraging to read as a fan – although I don’t doubt it was a tough decision for the young man to make.

The 24-year-old now has a couple of weeks to rest up, recuperate and keep working hard on the training field. This will no doubt do him the world of good going into the hectic winter schedule that could well be make or break for his manager.

Rashy is still yet to complete 90 minutes since his return from injury, which should be viewed as a positive as the club don’t want to put his body under too much duress too quickly.

Is Marcus Rashford right to withdraw? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
