Man Utd ready to sanction loan move for talented 19yo who enjoyed breakthrough season in 2020/21: report

Man United talent Ethan Laird is set to send the 2021/22 season out on loan.

The talent at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal cannot be understated. At all levels, the Baby Faced Assassin boasts arguably the best crop of players in football.

Although on paper, that’s fantastic to see, there are some negatives. It means the Red Devils manager simply doesn’t have enough places in the team to keep everyone happy.

Some youngsters, therefore, will have to leave Old Trafford to get minutes under their belt. One player who did that last term was Ethan Laird. The young full-back enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2020/21, while playing for MK Dons.

Now, Laird is set to head out on a short-term deal again, with United ready to sanction a loan move for the talented 19-year-old. That’s according to TEAMTalk.

Once again, Laird will be working with manager Russell Martin who gave the Englishman a chance at MK Dons. However, this time around, he’ll be playing for Swansea City in the Championship.

Laird is currently recovering from an injury that he picked up at the back end of last season, with United considering their options for the budding defensive star.

In the end, a reunion with Martin was the best course of action. No doubt Laird will once again be given plenty of opportunities to prove his worth.

Laird, who has already made his first-team debut at United, will be looking to continue his rise to prominence. Playing in a higher division on a regular basis will definitely serve him well.

Let’s hope this move gets confirmed soon, allowing the young man to get stuck in for Swansea City – with their season kicking off this weekend.
