According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are preparing a £55 million bid for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Red Devils are working on a major squad revamp this summer under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The British billionaire will be carefully planning his new signings since this will be his first summer transfer window with Man Utd since his takeover.

The club was shocked as Raphael Varane revealed that he was set to leave the club. Jonny Evans is also expected to follow suit and there are question marks over the future of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Lisandro Martinez is the only centre-back guaranteed to stay but is dealing with injury issues.

Diogo Dalot has been the lone defender who has been consistently present for the English giants this season.

Hence, the club are looking for new centre-back signings to deal with these issues.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is their top target for the upcoming transfer window and they are keen to add the 21-year-old to their roster.

The English star Jarrad Branthwaite has made 34 appearances for the Toffees and has kept 12 clean sheets plus scoring three goals.

The youngster has been a vital player for his side and Sean Dyche is hesitant to let him leave.

They would rather let Amadou Onana (another United target) leave. However, Everton needs to follow the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and hence, they require urgent funds to solve their financial issues.

Their director of football Kevin Thelwell has already mentioned that they might be forced to sell some of their key players this summer.

United fans will be excited to see positive developments coming their way.

Other PL clubs have still not entered this race to sign Jarrad Branthwaite and Erik Ten Hag’s side could take advantage of this.

The Red Devils are still short of Everton’s asking fee of £80m but they will be open to negotiate a fee close to £55m.

It remains to be seen whether they can make some smart long-term investments and rope in the English centre-back in the upcoming months.
