More infoManchester United have been handed a fresh transfer solution in their quest to sign a right-back with Benjamin Pavard expected to leave Bayern Munich. The France international defender is open to finding a new challenge following a difficult spell for both club and country after being cast aside by Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps in Qatar.Pavard started the tournament as France’s first-choice right-back but a lapse in concentration that gifted Australia an opener in the world champion’s first outing in Group C has set the tone for a frustrating experience in Qatar for the player. He was replaced by Jules Kounde during the contest and the Barcelona defender has not looked back since, nailing down his spot in Deschamps’ starting XI.The France boss raised eyebrows after leaving him out of the team for the 1-0 dead-rubber defeat to Tunisia, stating Pavard’s attitude wasn’t right. He said: “I made the decision not to play him. I will not go into details. I had several exchanges with him. I considered that he isn’t in a good mood. So you’re going to tell me: is it physical? Is it his head? The first game obviously didn’t help him. That’s why I made a different choice.”READ MORE: Man Utd ‘decide to sell’ underperforming Erik ten Hag flop after alarming Cadiz friendly Benjamin Pavard is expected to leave Bayern Munich in the near future (Image: Getty)While France are relishing their second successive World Cup final on Sunday against Argentina in Doha, Pavard is already thinking about his next move as he ponders a departure from Bayern Munich.According to Bild, his exit is seemingly likely to materialise and given Manchester United showed interest last summer, there’s every chance the Red Devils could consider a move for the former Stuttgart man.United are looking for a new right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka expected to move onto pastures new in January. The 2019 £50million signing from Crystal Palace recently struggled in United’s friendly defeat to Cadiz – his first start under Erik ten Hag.DON’T MISSMan Utd ‘decide to sell’ underperforming Erik ten Hag flop after alarming Cadiz friendlyMan Utd’s £22m transfer target breaks down in tears after suffering World Cup injuryMan Utd ‘add new striker’ to transfer shortlist after Erik ten Hag confirms January planNow United are looking to improve their options at full-back with Denzel Dumfries and Jeremie Frimpong among the names under consideration. But given Pavard is seemingly available, United have been handed a fresh transfer option ahead of the winter market. The player himself has laid on record his openness to exploring a new challenge after three years with Bayern. He told L’Equipe in November: “I’m not against discovering a new project. It may be the moment, I may have gone around here.”Pavard has big-game experience having also won numerous trophies with Bayern Munich.Furthermore, he is also comfortable at centre-back which could make him an attractive option for any club in the transfer window. The Frenchman’s current Bayern deal is due to expire in the summer of 2024 meaning the Bundesliga champions will also be cautious of his decreasing value. While he is unlikely to be near the top of Manchester United’s transfer wish-list, he does represent a credible option certainly worth considering.
