Man Utd confirm Cristiano Ronaldo transfer agreement subject to personal terms and medical

Manchester United have officially announced that an agreement has been reached to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. The mercurial 36-year-old is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Red Devils, with the deal subject to a medical and personal terms being finalised.

Ronaldo was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City earlier this week before the defending Premier League champions pulled out of the race for his signature earlier on Friday.

The development saw United spring into action in a last-gasp attempt to seal a sensational return to Old Trafford for the five-time Ballon D’Or winner.

An agreement has now been reached between the Red Devils and Juventus, with personal terms set to be rubber-stamped over the coming days.

United announced the move with an official statement which read: “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.

“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon D’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.

“Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester.”

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted at the possibility of Ronaldo rejoining to the club on Friday, suggesting that the door would always be open for him at Old Trafford.

“He is a legend of this club, the greatest player of all time if you ask me,” the 47-year-old told reporters.

“I was fortunate enough to play with him. I coached him when I got my job.

“He almost retired me because that Wolverhampton game, when I got injured, he kept switching sides.

“He is such a tremendous human being as well. Let’s see what happens with Cristiano. Everyone who has played with him has a soft spot for him.

“We’ve always had a good communication. Bruno has been talking to him. He knows what we feel about him.

“If he was ever going to move away from Juventus, he knows we’re here.”

It became clear earlier this week that Ronaldo was seeking a new challenge after winning every available domestic trophy during his time with Juventus.

He leaves Turin after scoring 101 goals from 134 appearances in all competitions for the Italian giants.

Ronaldo made his final appearance for Juventus on Sunday when he was introduced as a substitute during the second half of their 2-2 draw at Udinese.
