Borussia Dortmund could be open to selling Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window if the right offer comes in, according to reports. Manchester United have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old for some time and have been tipped to mount a renewed approach for his services ahead of next season.

The Red Devils tried to sign Sancho before the start of the current campaign, but were unable to meet Dortmund’s nine-figure asking price.

As a result, he stayed in Germany and has gone on to play a key role for the Bundesliga side this season, chipping in with 36 goal contributions in all competitions.

He has enjoyed a particularly strong run of form in recent months, scoring seven times in 10 league appearances to help Dortmund achieve Champions League qualification for another season.

Sancho’s impressive performances have only added fuel to the fire with regards to the speculation around his immediate future.

United are said to have retained a keen interest in bringing him to Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believed to be targeting the additions of a winger and a centre-back this summer.

The 20-time Premier League champions are still believed to be the favourites in the race for his signature despite reported interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.

Their pursuit of Sancho has failed to produce a successful conclusion up to this point, but it seems as though the Red Devils could finally seal the deal in the coming months.

Dortmund have refused to rule out the possibility of a summer exit for the winger, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming that he will be sold if ‘an important bid’ is made.

Whether or not United will be prepared to meet the German side’s valuation of the player remains to be seen.

It has been suggested that the England star’s asking price will be slashed, with recent reports claiming that he could be on the move for less than £80million.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke previously revealed that he and Sancho have a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ to part ways if a suitable offer is tabled.

“We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions,” Zorc told German outlet ARD.

“He’s been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling [Haaland].”

Meanwhile, former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has suggested that the Red Devils should target Leeds United’s Raphinha if they are unable to push through a move for Sancho this summer.

“I don’t think it’s realistic for Manchester United to win the Premier League next season,” Hargreaves told BT Sport last month.

“They have to find a way to bridge that gap. You bridge that gap by getting another centre-back, getting a central midfielder, and getting a right winger.

“A lot of people have played out on that right hand side and haven’t really found it. Jadon Sancho would be amazing.

“[But] you think about Raphinha at Leeds and what he could do in this United team. There’s obviously levels, and you can’t always spend £100 million on a player.”
