PSV are currently third in the Eredivisie table after winning 10 of their 14 matches this season.PSV are set to sell Cody Gakpo to Liverpool for £44million when the January transfer window opens. And, according to De Telegraaf, the Dutch club find themselves in a spiral that is difficult to break. Salary costs have run up considerably in the last few years and the team now have an annual deficit of £8.9m.PSV have failed to qualify for the Champions League for the last four years. Their lack of action in European football’s top-tier club competition means their extra income has to come from transfers. And that means they could now be willing to cash in on Xavi Simons and Ibrahim Sangare, who have both been linked with moves to United and Chelsea.“I’ll go on holiday and I’ll have time to talk about possible next projects, but until then I don’t want to worry about that,” Sangare said at the end of last season as he addressed his future. “Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine, but a dream of every footballer. PSV rejected the approach as the Dutch transfer window had already closed and the club wouldn’t have been able to replace the Ivory Coast international.Simons, meanwhile, only joined PSV in the summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. But both sides have been unable to force their way into the top four in the Premier League. And with the teams under pressure to secure Champions League football next season, they could look to throw cash at PSV to get the deals over the line.
