Man Utd And Chelsea Are Among 4 Clubs Vying For Striker Who Has Scored 12 Goals In His Last 16 Games

BACK Man Utd are keeping tabs on Roma forward Donyell Malen, according to reports in the Italian media. The 27-year-old only moved to Serie A from Aston Villa on an initial loan deal during the January transfer window, but he has been in sensational form for his new team. Malen has scored 12 times in just 16 appearances for the Giallorossi, and the Corriere Dello Sport (via TMW) claim that his performances have attracted the interest of United and three other teams. Chelsea and Newcastle are also interested in bringing him back to the Premier League after just six months, while Barcelona are seemingly considering him as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. How much would Malen cost? Roma will pay €25m (£22m) to make his move permanent at the end of the season, but it is believed that they won’t even consider selling him for double that price now. That will likely cool any interest in Malen, including from United, who will be devoting a sizeable sum to reinforcing other positions this summer. Man Utd are in the market for a left winger Director of Football Jason Wilcox is said to be keen on adding extra firepower to the forward line, but Malen probably doesn’t fit the profile he is looking for. The Netherlands international can play out wide, but he is usually deployed as a centre-forward, and United are reportedly hoping to bring in a player who generally plays off the left flank. There have been concrete links to another Serie A forward, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, in recent days. The Portuguese international could be on the market for around £60m. Other names, such as RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, have also been mentioned as possible transfer targets. Want more news on Man Utd?
