Man United ‘would do everything possible’ to sign 30-year-old this summer if he becomes available for transfer: report

Man United would push hard to sign Harry Kane this summer, if the Englishman becomes available for transfer.

In the summer of 2023, Manchester United ensured signing a striker was their top priority. Goals had become a problem from the number nine position, hence, Erik ten Hag spent many months chasing a new number nine.

For quite some time, Harry Kane was the name most consistently linked with filling that void. In the end, the Red Devils would pass up on the opportunity to sign the Englishman, instead, moving for Rasmus Hojlund.

Kane himself would end up heading to Germany, signing for Bayern Munich. Despite his goals, Bayern are some way off the Bundesliga pace as things stand. There have been rumours suggesting he’s already ready to move back to the Premier League.

Now, GiveMeSport have provided an update on that front, via Dean Jones. He has stated that United ‘would do everything possible’ to sign the 30-year-old this summer, assuming he becomes available for transfer…

Check out what Dean Jones had to say in full here:

“If United are going to sign a striker then Kane is as good as it gets. So we know there’s admiration for him and they do still hold some interest. At the moment, I wouldn’t have huge expectations around it. If Kane is genuinely unsettled, as some reports have suggested, and he wants to return to England, then you have to make sure you’re in the loop as to is it possible to sign him, and Man Utd will do that. But let’s face it, there is very little sign at the moment of Man United signing a player for mega money. So even if his situation does start to open up, it’s still going to be difficult to sign him. They would do everything possible to make it happen if they saw potential, but it’s hugely difficult to do.”

Kane is unbelievable. Nobody can deny his ability, goal-scoring prowess and skill. He’s displaying that with Bayern right now, after doing it for many years over in England.

However, I personally think that this ship has sailed. Signing Kane now would only hamper Hojlund’s development, with the Dane now firing on all cylinders and looking like the real deal.

Yes, United need to bring in a striker, but someone who can come in when Hojlund needs a rest or is injured. Not someone like Kane who’d likely completely leave Hojlund out of the picture for the next few years…

It just doesn’t feel like a wise use of a transfer budget that is set to be restricted due to FFP and Premier League sustainability rules. You look at all the holes in the squad now. A move for Kane would mean at least one or two of them probably wouldn’t get filled.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Harry Kane would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
