Man United are actively trying to move on from Donny van de Beek, with the player keen on a fresh start.

Manchester United could look to trim down their squad this summer, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to free up some funds to re-invest back into the playing squad.

The problem at Old Trafford currently, is the extortionate wages paid to fringe players. Their mega-money deals make it tough to sell these footballers for a decent fee. Most of the time, the Reds allow their contracts to wind down, releasing these guys on free transfers.

Donny van de Beek’s case is following the aforementioned similar path, though United haven’t yet given up hope on selling the Dutchman. The Manchester Evening News have provided the latest on the former Ajax midfielder.

According to their sources, United are ‘working on’ the player sale, with the 27-year-old keen for a ‘fresh start’ after a four-year Reds stay.

Van de Beek has returned to United after a failed loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Dutchman having just one year left on his current deal.

United will not allow Van de Beek to leave for free this summer, as they’re trying to recoup as much of the £35m they paid to sign him as possible.

The Reds are also open to a loan move away for Van de Beek if a sale cannot be sanctioned.

This reeks of another loan move for Van de Beek, before he leaves for nothing this coming summer. There is absolutely no way United will find someone willing to pay a decent chunk of money for the Dutchman given his dismal performances ever since joining the club a few years ago. Unfortunately, that’s the sad reality of the situation.

Do you think Donny van de Beek will rediscover his best form away from Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
