Man United ‘willing to sell’ 252-appearance star this summer, Premier League club ‘expected’ to make bid for signing: report

Man United are ready to cash in on Scott McTominay this summer, with the midfielder attracting interest from the Premier League.

Last summer, it felt like Erik ten Hag’s hands were tied in the transfer market. The Dutchman tried his best to move away from some fringe players within the squad, though their high wages made it difficult to move on from these guys.

One player who fell into that category was Scott McTominay. In the end, perhaps it was a blessing that the Scotland international stuck around, as he scored goals aplenty (and some important ones at that!).

However, United’s viewpoint on McTominay seemingly hasn’t changed. According to Manchester World, United are ‘willing to sell’ the 252-appearance star this summer.

Premier League side Fulham are said to be ‘leading the chase’ to sign McTominay, while they’re ‘expected’ to make a bid to sign the midfielder at some point during this transfer window.

The 27-year-old is among a whole host of players United are looking to sell this summer, while Fulham could be a great fit as they’re about to lose Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.

Fulham are said to hold a ‘strong interest’ in McTominay, though United could be hoping a bidding war for the midfielder may follow with Southampton, Newcastle United and West Ham United also keen.

It does feel like McTominay is surplus to requirements under the current regime, though whether or not anyone is willing to match United’s valuation of the player is another matter entirely.

It’s also dependent on the midfielder agreeing to a move away. McTominay would be well within his rights to turn any prospective transfer away from Old Trafford down, much like Harry Maguire did last season.
