Anthony Elanga hasn’t been involved in Man United’s Scotland training camp with a small injury issue.
Towards the back end of the 2020/21 campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer treated us all to a glimpse of Anthony Elanga.
The young Swede was actually in line to make his first-team bow six months prior, but for a semi-serious injury.
Well, Elanga would immediately make up for lost time, greatly impressing as the season came to its conclusion. His highlight moment came against Wolverhampton Wanderers where the 19-year-old would score a fantastic header.
Elanga has also been the key man during pre-season, scoring two in two and constantly looking like a real threat. However, he’s now battling some form of issue.
United are now sweating on the fitness of the young star, who has missed the latest training camp in Scotland with an injury. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News.
The good news? It’s described as a ‘minor problem’ by the MEN, with Elanga receiving treatment at the AON Training Complex earlier this week.
Whether Elanga will be available to take on Everton this weekend remains to be seen. However, with it being pre-season, I’d be very surprised if the young teenager is risked for this one. Instead, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to approach the situation with caution.
For Elanga, having that vote of confidence from his manager is massive. I fully expect the versatile winger to be an integral part of Solskjaer’s first-team plans this year. No doubt he’ll be given ample opportunity to prove his worth throughout the 2021/22 term.
Get well soon, Anthony!
