Scott McTominay has been added to an evergrowing Man United injury list.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job is hanging on by a thread. This last week, things have gotten even worse for the Baby Faced Assassin on the injury front.
Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw have all gone down with various issues. Now, another problem has occurred with Scott McTominay…
United are now sweating on this new fitness concern, with the BBC reporting the star has been sent home from Scotland international duty with what they’re describing as a ‘throat virus’.
McTominay will miss Friday’s game against Moldova, but he could return against Denmark on Monday. Obviously, it’s all dependent on how everything progresses with the virus.
We don’t know how serious it is, nor do we really want McTominay being risked in a game he may go into not fully fit.
Now, United don’t play until November 20th which is nine days from now. However, given everything that’s gone on with our injuries recently, I’d fully expect Solskjaer to approach this one cautiously.
Whether we rate McTominay or not, he’s one of the guaranteed starters in this side right now. Personally, I think he’s a player who is only getting better season-in-season-out – but he needs to step it up even further if we’re to win titles with this guy in the side.
For now, it’s down to McTominay to rest up, start to feel better and hopefully, be back fit for United. I know he loves representing his country but this is one of those times where he has to prioritise his club and maybe sit this one out. It’s definitely for the best.
Get well soon, Scott!
