Man United still have eyes on Bayern Munich centre-back, Matthijs de Ligt.

Manchester United Football Club have to sign a centre-half this summer. There’s absolutely no getting away from that. The Red devils need to replace Raphael Varane, while they also simply need someone who can start games consistently and not miss out through injury.

Jarrad Branthwaite still feels like the number one priority in that area of the field, though the Old Trafford side could be priced out of a move for the Everton man. As a result, United need a back-up option.

One player who could be a possibility is Matthijs de Ligt. The Bayern Munich man could be on the move this summer.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has provided the latest on that front, with United still said to be keen on the 24-year-old, who ‘remains a transfer target’.

De Ligt’s name is being discussed alongside the aforementioned Branthwaite and Leny Yoro.

Ten Hag is said to be a ‘great admirer’ of the Dutch player, who can leave Munich if a ‘suitable offer’ arrives.

United value De Ligt at around the £42m mark, which would be significantly cheaper than the £70m Everton want for Branthwaite.

It feels like De Ligt has been around for ages. He broke into the Ajax team at such a young age, while his best years are still ahead of the Dutch centre-half.

We Reds fans will have to remain patient on this one for the time being, as ‘concrete’ talks will not take place until after the European Championships. De Ligt is currently away with the Netherlands and that’s his primary focus right now.
