Man United star who enjoyed positive end to season ‘would like to stay’ at club this summer, has uncertain future: report

Sofyan Amrabat would prefer to remain at Man United this summer, rather than head back to Fiorentina.

Manchester United have a squad that could look drastically different at the start of next season. The Red Devils will lose Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Omari Forson. Many more will follow over the coming months.

Keeping a core group of players together, in order not too upset consistency too much, could be key. Hence, I now believe there’s a genuine chance Sofyan Amrabat is kept on, after it was initially deemed he’d head back to Fiorentina upon the end of his loan.

The Morocco international looked superb at the back end of the 2023/24 season, including putting in a giant performance against Manchester City in the FA Cup final. It was the type of display that could persuade the United board to keep the midfielder around…

Andy Mitten has discussed Amrabat’s future while writing for The National News. It’s fair to say he’d love to remain a Red Devil. According to the information, Amrabat ‘would like to stay’ at the club this summer, after the star enjoyed himself, particularly recently.

Amrabat is currently one of several players and coaches that faces an uncertain future at United, as he doesn’t really know where he’ll be playing his football next season.

There’s every chance that Fiorentina would look to sell Amrabat permanently if he were sent back, though they wouldn’t get anywhere close to the reported £20m United would have to stump up to bring the 27-year-old in for good.

Albeit a small sample size, Amrabat has proven his qualities in that defensive midfield position. Just look at how he handled Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden just last week. After a real run in the side, the Moroccan more than displayed his qualities and United would be silly to not at least consider the possibility of bringing him back…

Amrabat likes Manchester and would love to stay. Is that feeling reciprocated? Only time will tell.
