Luke Shaw now only has a ‘very small’ chance at being fit for the FA Cup final after suffering an injury setback.

Manchester United’s season has been derailed by injuries. Erik ten Hag has effectively been working with one hand tied behind his back for large portions of the campaign, although he has been keen to not use it as an excuse.

The Red Devils have one meaningful game left; the FA Cup final.

Before that time, United may see a few players return from the treatment table, including the likes of Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez (the latter two were back on the bench in midweek).

However, one man who is now a major doubt to take part in the Wembley showpiece is Luke Shaw…

According to Ten Hag, the United star has suffered an injury setback. Now, he is only given a ‘very small’ chance at making the FA Cup final…

Check out what Ten Hag had to say in full here:

“Luke is more complicated. In this moment, let’s say it’s a less chance that he will make it. But there is still a very small, reduced chance.” Ten Hag told ManUtd.com.

“He had a setback, now we have to find out how far [from a return] he is.”

Although Ten Hag didn’t completely rule out Shaw, he didn’t sound very positive about it whatsoever. It’s certainly a bitter blow, though it was somewhat expected given the fact he has been out for so long.

Even if Shaw was back in training now, he’d only have a little over a week to build up his match fitness. You would not want to throw a rusty full-back into the team against Manchester City. While it would be nice to see him among the substitutes.

At this point, it sounds like Shaw is now focusing on recovering in time for pre-season. At the end of the day, this whole campaign feels like an absolute write-off due to the sheer volume of injuries suffered.
