Mason Mount is set to be included in a Man United squad for the first time in four months this weekend.

Manchester United’s big summer splash over the summer transfer window was Mason Mount. The Englishman was quickly identified as a player who could improve this Red Devils midfield, with the club spending big to sign him from Chelsea.

Mount had a sharp pre-season, though that’s all we’ve really seen from the midfielder. Injuries have plagued his debut campaign, which is absolutely gutting for both player and fans.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow given how hard Erik ten Hag pushed to bring Mount in, particularly as we’re now not going to see the best from the player until next season as he works his way back from the treatment room.

This week, pictures of Mount back in training surfaced. He hasn’t played a competitive game since November so naturally, we assumed that it’d be at least another fortnight or so before he’s even considered for meaningful minutes.

Well, The Athletic seem to have sources telling them the contrary. According to their latest information, the United star is set to be included in the Reds’ match day squad for the first time in four months, when Liverpool visit Old Trafford tomorrow.

We haven’t seen Mount since mid-November in the Luton Town game, so it’s nigh-on impossible for Mount to come straight back into the starting line-up here. More than likely, he’ll remain on the bench for this one.

With the international break now on the horizon, it would make sense to give Mount another fortnight worth of training before getting him back out there on the field. The last thing United would want is to rush him back and risk the player picking up another injury.

Do you think there’s any chance Mason Mount takes to the field tomorrow? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
