It’s All Kicking Off podcast By Dominic Hogan Published: 11:59 GMT, 22 March 2024 | Updated: 12:00 GMT, 22 March 2024 Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho was seen poking fun at Douglas Luiz’s infamous celebration from Aston Villa’s 2-1 home defeat to the Red Devils in February. United went to Villa Park in desperate need of a win over their top-four rivals in order to keep in touch with the race for the Champions League, and managed to come away with all three points. The visitors took the lead through Rasmus Hojlund on 17 minutes before Luiz equalised for the hosts from a corner.  The Brazilian though clearly enjoyed his goal, dropping to his knees inside the box in front of the United defence to pull out a shimmy, before racing off in front of the Holte End to knee slide and celebrate with his fans. United would ultimately have the last laugh after Scott McTominay won the game in the 86th minute, though Luiz appears to have touched a nerve with his antics, with Garnacho and Co still clearly not having forgotten his celebration. Alejandro Garnacho and his team-mates were spotted making fun of Douglas Luiz’s celebration Luiz’s shimmy celebration in front of the United defence has clearly lingered long in the memory In a video posted on social media, Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Willy Kambwala can be seen in training celebrating. Garnacho then walks away with his arms out before dropping to his knee and attempting to pull off one of Luiz’s shimmies, although he doesn’t quite attack it with the same gusto. Man United fans on X, formerly Twitter, were quick to enjoy their youngsters mocking a rival player, with one writing: ‘Nah casual violation. Luiz really made a meme of himself.A second was looking forward to seeing the players pull it out on their next trip to Villa, adding: ‘Have to be done in front of Aston Villa away end.’However not everyone was impressed, with a number of Villa fans simply commenting snapshots of the Premier League table, which has Villa in fourth on 56 points and United nine points behind in sixth. Others took the opportunity to point out that while United’s players were mocking a celebration from over a month ago, Luiz was busy on international duty with Brazil. One rival fan wrote: ‘Weird making everyone aware they are sat at home on international week still bothered by someone celebrating a goal? ‘Douglas Luiz is too busy to respond as he’s actually been called up by his country. Maybe they should be more concerned with that?’Another said: ‘These lot are petty and I love it,’ followed by a laughing emoji. And a third added: ‘Imagine mocking someone that’s a better player than them,’ accompanied by two more laughing emojis.United are next in action on Saturday March 30 after the international break when they visit Brentford, before a trip to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea four days later. Villa meanwhile will continue their bid to hold onto fourth place with the visit of near neighbours Wolves March 30 before a mouth-watering tie with Manchester City on the Wednesday following.
