Antony has taken to social media to send a message to the supporters after his rough season.

Manchester United Football Club endured a turbulent 2023/24 campaign. It was a season filled with injuries and disappointment, though Erik ten Hag still managed to deliver a trophy.

Perhaps no singular player epitomises the campaign better than Antony. An expensive Ten Hag signing who has endured off-field issues, injuries while failing to live up to the hype.

We have to remember the Brazilian was actually pretty decent during his debut campaign at the club. Antony offered tactical structure, quality in fits and spurts while looking like a player who could improve.

That development didn’t happen. Be it due to a reduction in minutes, a legal battle that’s taken place behind the scenes or a combination of the two. I guess we’ll never know.

Well, the man himself has spoken out on the situation. The United star has admitted it has been a ‘difficult season’ for him personally, while sending an emotional message to the fans. The good news? Antony also sounded defiant and determined to bounce back next term.

Although rumours have suggested Antony has been deemed surplus to requirements, we have to be realistic. There’s going to be no club out there willing to spend big to bring him in. Hence, United supporters have to back the ex-Ajax man over the next twelve months.

There’s some talent in there. It’s up to United to extract that out of him. At least the lad genuinely cares about what he’s doing and that’s more than we can say for some other members of that Red Devils dressing room.

I, for one, am ready to give him the benefit of the doubt this time around. Off-field issues definitely haven’t helped. Let’s hope they’re all sorted going into the 2024/25 campaign and we see some better displays from Antony.
