Man United will be without Anthony Martial, Antony and Scott McTominay for the game away game vs Leeds United tomorrow.
Manchester United would have felt disappointed after drawing against Leeds United in midweek, though coming from 2-0 down does soften the blow somewhat.
At the end of the day, this Erik ten Hag team is still in its infancy, though the signs are certainly positive so far.
Ironically, United play Leeds again this weekend. This time, the lads will visit Elland Road.
However, the Reds will do it without a first-team trio, all of whom will not recover from injury in time. Scott McTominay, Antony and Anthony Martial will all still be absent here – while they’re likely to miss out on the FC Barcelona game in midweek, too.
When asked about the fitness of Antony, Martial & McTominay, Ten Hag responded:
“I don’t expect [them to be fit]. We have some days obviously, but I don’t expect it,” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com.
“If I can oversee it from now, I don’t see any new problems coming up.”
None of these guys were involved in the game against Leeds on Wednesday, either, meaning it’ll largely be the same squad that take to the field this time around.
Rumours have suggested that Wout Weghorst could be dropped for the game tomorrow, meaning Marcus Rashford could play a more central role here.
Again, it just highlights how United lack real strength in depth in a variety of positions. The squad looked so threadbare for the midweek game without the aforementioned trio, coupled with Casemiro’s ban.
You’d like to think that United still have enough firepower to get the job done in the short-term, though with games pretty much every three days for the foreseeable future, the lads are going to be absolutely exhausted.
