Man United and Erik ten Hag are set to continue a major squad overhaul going into the summer.
Manchester United Football Club picked up another important victory over the weekend, with the Red Devils continuing to improve under Erik ten Hag.
The squad isn’t really close to the finished article in terms of the Ten Hag style of play, though that transfer turnover is set to continue over the summer.
The latest from Steve Bates in The Mirror suggests further, major change will be made in five months’ time.
Apparently, United are ‘preparing’ for a ‘big-money fire sale’ this coming summer, which includes a trio of first-teamers being moved on.
Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay will all be let go, with Ten Hag looking to generate some funds to invest in the playing squad.
Maguire has been usurped from the starting line-up by the now customary back two of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. McTominay isn’t playing due to the brilliance of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, while Martial simply cannot stay fit.
Ten Hag is a manager who requires 100% from his players. Seemingly, the Dutchman doesn’t have that faith in the aforementioned trio.
On top of that, the gaffer is also looking at letting Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Donny van de Beek leave. The two former players are currently away on loan, while the Dutch midfielder is out injured.
I’d be surprised if United manage to move on from all six of these guys who Ten Hag doesn’t have plans for, largely due to their hefty wages and contracts. However, if the club can get rid of the majority of them, they’ll certainly be spaces in the squad for new signings.
Right now, I’m loving the work being conducted by our new manager. Ten Hag has a clear plan and he’s moving this club forward. It’s now up to the powers that be to back him all the way.
