Man United open Pogba contract talks

Manchester United have opened talks about a new contract for Paul Pogba, according to Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports.

The midfielder signed for United in 2016, arriving from Juventus for a Premier League-record transfer fee of £89 million. His future has been a subject of relentless speculation ever since, amid reports of interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, as well as Juventus are apparently keen to take him back to Turin.

Pogba’s contract was initially set to expire this year but United, being keen to extend the cooperation while unable to reach an agreement with his representative Mino Raiola, triggered the option that was at their disposal for an extra period of 12 months. However, unless they get him to pen a new deal or sell his services this summer, they will be obliged to let him go for free in 2022.

Currently on international duty with France and preparing for the start of the European Championship, Pogba was asked about the situation. He replied that he had a year to go at Old Trafford and that there was no offer of any kind on his table as of yet, but it seems United have finally made a move to tie him down with a new contract.
