Man United have been offered the chance to sign Yannick Carrasco today.
Manchester United Football Club are always on the hunt for new signings that can improve the squad. Erik ten Hag has consistently kept one eye on who is available during this January.
Sadly, Christian Eriksen has suffered a long-term injury. More about that on the site later.
The club are looking to see who is out there in order to replace Eriksen for the next few months. That’s where Yannick Carrasco comes in.
According to The Telegraph, United have been ‘offered the chance’ to sign the 29-year-old by Atletico Madrid.
It is understood that contact has been made between Carrasco’s representatives and United, though as it stands, a move to FC Barcelona over the summer feels more likely.
The main issue here is that Carrasco and Eriksen are different types of players. I like the Belgian. I actually think he’d be a decent piece of business for United – though he’s not a direct replacement on Eriksen. He’s more of a winger.
The article states that United are only looking for a loan move this month, while interest in Carrasco is somewhat cool. Largely due to the fact he’s not a central midfielder.
Our overriding feeling is that it’s going to be tough for United to bring in a central midfielder today. I’d love to see Carrasco’s countryman, Youri Tielemans, come through the door, though the money just isn’t there to buy him outright – even though he’d be cheaper due to a winding down contract.
The general consensus is that we’re going to see more of Zidane Iqbal and Kobbie Mainoo between now and the end of the campaign – which isn’t a bad thing at all.
