Man United have been named as the main side interested in signing Jeremie Frimpong.
Manchester United Football Club were in the market for a new right-back over the summer, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka not really viewed as someone who is a part of Erik ten Hag’s plans.
In the end, ‘The Spider’ stuck around. He’s played his part recently in the injury absence of Diogo Dalot, though the feeling still remains. He’s not a long-term part of the future at Old Trafford.
One man who has been linked with filling that void is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong. BILD, with the translation via Sport Witness, still believe that’s the case.
Leverkusen are struggling this season and as a result, they could have ‘consequences’ to pay this summer. Players will want to leave while a squad overhaul could well be on the cards.
Frimpong is one of those names who could depart, with United named as the main side interested in signing the 22-year-old right-back. Bild also state that the player is ‘hotly courted’ in England.
Frimpong is someone who Ten Hag likes as a player, with the Dutchman impressing over in the Bundesliga.
Frimpong’s current contract expires in 2025, so there’s no real rush to sell the right-back if Leverkusen so choose. However, if he doesn’t sign a new deal, his transfer value will never be as high as it will be this summer.
There’s a feeling within the German club that Frimpong will depart, though it’s safe to assume United will not be the only interested party. This is a top player who’ll have plenty of offers coming in for him, so don’t be surprised to see a bidding war ensue.
