Man United man suffered ‘small injury’, could have become a ‘much bigger problem’ if player was involved vs Liverpool: report

It looks as though Man United made the correct decision by sitting Casemiro out of the game against Liverpool over the weekend.

Over the weekend, there were rumours suggesting that Casemiro would be unavailable to take on Liverpool after the Brazil man pulled out of international duty with a fresh problem.

Those rumours turned out to be true, with the ex-Real Madrid man nowhere to be seen during the 4-3 win on Sunday. We’ve received very little correspondence on that front in regard to the severity of the issue. Until now…

It comes from Brazil media outlet Trivela, with Sport Witness translation and relaying the information. It is claimed Casemiro felt a hamstring issue in training ahead of the Manchester United game against Liverpool.

Casemiro then went to club doctors, who did not find any issue with the area. He was still in pain and he decided to check with a doctor from Barcelona, who has treated him before. That doctor would confirm the United man suffered a ‘small injury’, that could have become a ‘much bigger problem’ if he’d have played against Liverpool. Thankfully, the issue was spotted and Case did not take to the field.

It goes without saying, the last thing Casemiro needs is to pick up another lengthy injury problem, particularly as United need to finish out the campaign strongly.

The length of his absence hasn’t yet been confirmed, so it’s still up in the air as to whether the 32-year-old will be ready to take on Brentford upon the resumption of domestic football in a little under a fortnight.

I’d like to think there’s a chance he’ll be fit, with the issue only described as a ‘small’ one, though if there’s still any pain in the hamstring, it would be wise to keep Casemiro sat down until he’s fully healed.

Do you think Man United will welcome Casemiro back to the side next time out? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
