Man United have veteran striker ‘on their radar’, move may be hard to pull off this month report

Man United are looking at Olivier Giroud as a possible replacement for their striker woes.

Erik ten Hag lost Cristiano Ronaldo last month, following the Portugal international publicly disrespecting Manchester United Football Club. There was never really any way back for the GOAT following those comments…

Anyway, Ronnie is now a thing of the past, with United looking to move forward. There’s a large hole within the squad following his departure, though replacing him in January was always going to be tough – particularly with the Glazer family looking to sell up.

A short-term deal or loan always feel like the only real option for Ten Hag to fill that void here. The latest transfer rumour certainly fits that bill; Olivier Giroud…

The France international, who had an impressive World Cup, is seemingly attracting interest from United.

It’s The Times (subscription required) with the report, who state that United have the veteran striker ‘on their radar’, though a move may be hard to pull off, with Giroud expecting a new contract offer from AC Milan.

Giroud did enjoy himself over in Qatar, scoring some important goals for his country. He’s also been in good form for his club, striking nine times in nineteen matches across all competitions.

This one feels like a relatively cheap deal, be it on a short-term contract or on loan – though it all comes down to what the player wants. You’d also imagine that AC Milan would prefer to keep ahold of Giroud until at least the summer.

Personally, I’d be surprised if this one happens. I can see the logic and thought process behind it, though I just don’t see neither Giroud or AC Milan allowing it to happen…

Do you think a short-term Man United move for Olivier Giroud would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
