Man United have ‘not yet given up’ on out-of-favour star with three years left on Reds contract: report

Man United still believe there’s a potential future at the club for Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United Football Club have dealt with many off-field distractions this term. From the change in ownership, to Antony’s legal battles, Erik ten Hag has not had it easy.

Perhaps the biggest issue of the lot for United’s Dutch manager was the very public fallout with Jadon Sancho. The Englishman was completely exiled from the Reds squad from that point forward…

Eventually, Sancho would head to Borussia Dortmund on loan. He’d start slowly, though the winger does have a Champions League final to look forward to. By all accounts, BVB are pleased with his output and they’d like to bring him back permanently – though getting a deal done is easier said than done.

ESPN have provided an intriguing update on Sancho’s future, claiming that United have ‘not yet given up’ on the out-of-favour star. That may be partly due to his contract situation, with the Englishman having three years left to run on his Reds contract. It’s also down to Ten Hag’s uncertain future, as there’s no way back for Sancho if the ex-Ajax boss does remain in charge.

The article highlights Sancho’s unbelievable natural talent, mixed in with some minor off-field issues, including turning up late to training and meetings. However, United are seemingly not prepared to quit on the winger just yet. After all, he’s still very young.

This could suggest that Ten Hag’s fate has already been sealed, which would be somewhat disappointing given the FA Cup final win.

To be brutally honest with you, I have to admit I’d be extremely disappointed if Sancho is welcomed back at United. Yes, he’s talented, but INEOS have made no bones about the fact that they’re trying to minimise player power. It just sends out the wrong message completely.

United may have to take a brutal financial hit to get rid of Sancho, but so be it… no singular player is bigger than the club.
