Man United have ‘already inquired’ about signing 29-year-old midfielder on a free transfer this summer: report

Man United have already asked about bringing in Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer this summer.

It feels like Manchester United are linked with a move to sign Adrien Rabiot every single summer. The Frenchman, who is seemingly looking to move club’s year-on-year, is now back in the headlines again.

This time, Rabiot has a winding down contract. Thus, the ball is firmly in his court and he holds all the cards.

Tutto Juve (in Italian), have provided an update on that front. Apparently, United have ‘already inquired’ about signing the 29-year-old midfielder on a free transfer this summer, though it’s not going to be easy.

Rabiot will give ‘priority’ talks to his current club, Juventus, presumably in an attempt to allow the Turin club to make a big-money offer in an effort to keep the Frenchman in Serie A.

United, Bayern Munich and Aston Villa are all eyeing a move to bring in Rabiot, should he leave Italy this coming summer.

Rabiot strikes me as someone who’ll follow the money. This summer, United aren’t planning on splashing the cash. With that in mid, I’d be surprised if the Old Trafford side are anywhere near the front of the queue for this signing.

The midfielder will want a massive weekly wage to even consider a move to a club without Champions League football on the table. I’m not sure INEOS are going to be willing to do that, particularly as they look to make a point this summer, suggesting that gone are the days of overpaying for these mid-level players.

My gut feeling says that Rabiot ends up signing a new deal with Juventus after some lengthy negotiations.
