Man United had scouts watching 22-year-old in action last weekend, as player scores in 2-1 win: report

Man United had scouts present, keeping an eye on young striker Joshua Zirkzee, this past weekend.

Manchester United Football Club need another big transfer window this coming summer, with INEOS looking to make their first inroads as the Reds hope to return to the top.

Erik ten Hag is currently still in charge, though it’s fair to say his future at the club is far from certain. I’d stick with the Dutchman, though he can have no complaints if he’s relieved of his duties.

Anyway, the work for next season will continue, with several players linked with a potential Old Trafford switch. A striker, presumably to replace the outbound Anthony Martial, is among the top priorities. Let’s face it, Rasmus Hojlund cannot do it all on his own…

Enter, Joshua Zirkzee.

The Bologna striker has been in good form this season, as interest in the Dutchman from all corners of Europe continues to grow.

It’s Tuttosport with the story. They believe United had scouts watching the 22-year-old in action last weekend, as Bologna beat Atalanta 2-1 in Serie A. Zirkzee would score in that game, albeit from the spot.

It feels like United are trying to add more youth to their squad wherever possible, while Zirkzee represents a younger option to the likes of the aforementioned Martial.

The striker has scored eleven goals across all competitions this season, with Zirkzee continuing to improve and develop as a forward after being let go by Bayern Munich last year.

Zirkzee feels like a Ten Hag target. The Dutch manager has always swayed towards signing his fellow countrymen where possible, so it’s unclear at this stage if Zirkzee would still be on United’s wishlist if the current Reds boss is relieved of his duties.

Do you think a Man United move to sign Joshua Zirkzee would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
